Sharks are an ancient species. Their ancestors swam in Earth's seas 420 million years ago. They range in size from the deep sea 6.7 inch dwarf lanternshark to the 40 foot long whale shark.

Sharks have cartilage instead of bones, which reduces weight and saves energy. Some feed on fish and mammals, others on mollusks and crustaceans. Still others, like the basking shark, survive on plankton. Most sharks are Apex predators and all species of shark are essential to healthy seas.

* What do they want us to know?

*What do they have to say about themselves, their roles in the sea and their relationship to humans and other beings?

Join us on Wednesday to find out!
