"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened."
Anatole France
Hello! This is fascinating. The Praying Mantis Council has asked to speak with us.
Mantises are excellent predators. They have "stereo vision" and and turn their heads 180 degrees. They also smell with their antenna and capture prey with their long front legs. However, they are also prey to many species.
Here's some very cool details: According to Wikipedia, the Ancient Egyptians, Assyrians and Greeks believed that mantises had supernatural powers. "Some pre-Columbian cultures in western Nicaragua have preserved oral traditions of the mantis as "Madre Culebra", a powerful predator and symbol of female symbolic authority." There are two "schools" of Chinese martial arts named for the praying mantis. AND, they are the most common insects kept as pets. Who knew?
So, please join us for this special session!
