Hello! This week the Horn Toad or Horned Lizard Council has asked to join us.
Horn Toads are actually small lizards who are highly endangered in the American Southwest and Mexico. Habitat loss, predation from cats, dogs and the "pet trade," as well as the invasion of fireants who have decimated the native harvester ant colonies horned lizards depend on have all led to their plight.
Horn toads have very interesting defense strategies -- excellent camoflage, puffing up large, and squirting blood from their eyes!
What is their message for us during these challenging times?
Join us and find out. These little desert dragons will have something interesting to teach us, I'm sure.
